Cyd C. Glover-Hill
Cyd is the dance choreographer for the NuBAh stage play. She began her dance training
under the direction of the late Paul Kennedy and Arlene Kennedy (the founders of
Universal Dance Designs), and went on to study and dance for legendary instructors
Bruce Heath, Gerald McCall (of Dance Theatre of Harlem), Ka-Ron Brown-Lehman,
Cholly Atkins, Henry LeTang, Wayne Bascomb, and Margueritte Derricks to name a few.
Her performance credits include the Olympic Arts Festival, Tip Tap Festival (Rome,
Italy), the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Black and Blue, Jazz/Tap Hip-Hop
Tour (Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival), A Gala For the President (with Gregory Hines)
, Cool Women (dir. Debbie Allen), The Gregory Hines Show, numerous award shows,
movies, and stage productions. Longing to share her gift with future generations, Cyd has
co-owned and served as the artistic director of two dance studios – En Step Performing-
arts Nation and Hawthorne Dance Academy and assembled her own non-profit dance
company, Art In Motion Dance Company (AIM) in 1997. The LA Times heralded
the company as “Focused and keenly committed,” while Grover Dale of Dance and
Fitness Magazine called them “A Blessing!” In addition to choreographing over 10 stage
productions for her own company, Cyd has choreographed for Anita Mann Productions
(Tap Girls), “Ladies In Hats” film, “For His Glory”, “The Legend of the Chocolate
Nutcracker”, the Kaleidoscope Dance Festival, numerous productions for West Angeles
Theater Group, the Black Choreographer’s Showcase, and many recording artists,
including Mya, SAGE, Coming of Age, and HYMN. Cyd is a recipient of the James
Irvine Foundation’s “Dance to Creation” Grant Program, chosen as one of 18 out of 256
choreographers. She also serves as the Dance Director of the Rejoice Dance Ministry at
West Angeles Church, where she oversees the adult dance ministry and choreographs
for special productions. Cyd has a BS in Public Administration from the University of
Southern California (USC) and is happily married with two beautiful children.
